Gas and Waste
It has been so much fun to be out and shamelessly talking trash with friends. The overall mood is light and amusing. But to write about these photos is a bit of a challenge. Most commentary about trash teaches us the negative impact it has on our environment. I support, condone and approve of these lessons. In my dreams, these photos simply catalog the organic process of natural decay. Our trash would reflect respect for entropy and it’s limitations. But really now, these images would look good in a dissertation on waste management. And I confess that there is some trash that I do not like.
My friend Joel (a writer) has offered two non-writing suggestions. First, I should include the countless Poland Springs bottles, Dunkin’Donuts cups, and Marlboro soft packs, etc., that I have chosen to ignore (or fish out of my otherwise kick-ass shot). And secondly, I should take it one step further and engage in dialogue (anyone with phone numbers? contacts? please submit) with these companies about their lack of forethought put into the life span of their product packaging. These ideas really get me going. Maybe I could persuade the Perrier (they own Poland Springs & Deer Park) or Marlboro marketeers to hire me to lead a “new” image campaign, bad attention is just like good attention. Everyone is doing it. Now my dream becomes American, and hopes of subsidies for my inadvertant advertising come flowing into my bank account. So much to write about really. Who knew? Dolphin lovers, I am thinking of you.

You mean some people make money with Art? (This is a really great shot, BTW.)

Hey Renee,
Thanks for sharing your galleries and for finding your way to my blog. If you haven’t already, you should also check out the work Andrew Hughes who recently published a beautiful book of beach debris photos.

Renee, we should do some 3-D shots since reflected images in the third dimension get pretty squirrely. Not exactly Star Gate but strange nonetheless. Also it looks as if you generally need a wet-down. And what about night shots?

ummm…I’ll go with night shots for $100. I do have plans for this, the whole night thing. It’s raining tonight and the wormholes will be easily spotted with my dive light.
